Parish Histories of Jamaica is a historical preservation project which seeks to document the rich history of all fourteen parishes in Jamaica and make it available and accessible to all via a website. The project is executed in collaboration with the Department of History and Archaeology at the UWI. The department is responsible for the research and writing of each parish history. The parishes completed so far are; Westmoreland, St. Thomas, Trelawny and St. Mary. Portland and St. Catherine are also slated to be completed by the end of 2017. The JN Foundation is responsible for all the photography for all the historical sites in each parish as well as oral histories. Oral histories are captured in two video formats; a vox pop and an interview. The vox pop takes on a lighter mood and tests residents of the particular parish on historical facts about the parish. The interview seeks to capture more about what life was like ``back in the days``. All these written histories, photos and videos are made available on this website for everyone. The interview video for Trelawny features Aunt V, who was the oldest woman in the world and who has recently passed away. Welcome and please Enjoy!
